Brooklyn Beckham Family Rift Involves Choosing Nelson Peltz: NY Mag

Brooklyn Beckham made headlines in January for slamming his parents — David and Victoria Beckham — for controlling “narratives in the press about our family” and “trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding” to Nicola Peltz Beckham, daughter of corporate raider Nelson Peltz, in 2022.

Now, amid the Beckham family rift, a New York magazine profile on the eldest son of the famed soccer player attempts to explain why Brooklyn Beckham isn’t likely to leave behind Brand Beckham Peltz anytime soon.

“What’s undeniable is that in the battle of oligarchy versus fame, Brooklyn is betting on oligarchy,” the feature argues, noting that father in-law Peltz’s worth was pegged by Forbes at around $1.5 billion.

Money and clout of that stature means Brooklyn Beckham seemingly no longer has to pose for photos alongside his parents and siblings to drive public promotion and endorsements. “His own parents know very well that maintaining celebrity today is an exhausting, ceaseless game, even at the top,” the profile, entitled “What Broke the Beckhams?” states. “Why else would people as beloved and famous as they are still have to film Uber Eats ads referring to their glory days? Shill fruit snacks in Target?”

In his infamous Instagram Story post earlier this year, calling out his family and saying he did “not want to reconcile” with them, Brooklyn Beckham pleaded: “My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press or manipulation. All we want [is] peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.”

Replacing one wealthy father for another in corporate raider Peltz apparently does just that, as Brand Beckham Peltz is now assured of celebrity and wealth without any unseemly promotional hustle. “The Peltzes are so rich that they can just pay for it all — reviews, financial success or public adoration doesn’t make or break what Nelson’s heirs decide to do with their lives,” the feature continues.

The result has Brooklyn Beckham with a new restaurant venture, Beck’s Buns, in the works, and wife Nicola’s film production banner, Bunny Films, producing two more movies. That’s just the start of his new plush life.

“For the moment, Brooklyn seems content to live as a nearly full-time wife guy. Nicola bought them a new $16 million house in Beverly Hills in 2024. They have been vacationing in Montecito and drinking $2,000 bottles of wine. The hostage situation, if it is one, doesn’t seem so bad,” the feature concludes.
