NBC has picked up new seasons of Chicago Med, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Fire, or Dick Wolf’s OneChicago dramas about Windy City first responder heroes, for the 2026-27 season.
The anticipated renewals for the popular procedurals — all taking place in the same TV universe — will see Chicago Fire return in fall 2026 for a 15th season, Chicago P.D. gets a 14th season and Chicago Med returns for a 12th season. The trio of Chicago-set series dominate NBC’s Wednesday night lineup and show no signs of slowing down with audiences.
Chicago P.D. is set around an Intelligence Unit on the streets of the Windy City and stars Jason Beghe as Sergeant Hank Voight. Chicago Med follows the life-and-death struggles of devoted doctors, nurses and staff at the Gaffney Medical Center, and Chicago Fire centers around heroic firefighters and paramedics in Firehouse 51.
NBC touted OneChicago as “the most dominant scripted franchise across all of television” as it handed out the latest renewals. The network added the latest epic 3-show crossover on March 4 to unite the crews from Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med had each long-running series reaching season highs for total viewers.
Chicago Fire is showrun by Andrea Newman, Chicago Med has Allen MacDonald show running and Chicago P.D. is showrun by Gwen Sigan. All three shows are produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
The latest pick ups for the Chicago series comes ahead of NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation to TV ad buyers in May.
