The cast of “Euphoria” is remembering their late co-star, Eric Dane, following his heartbreaking death on Thursday.
Several stars from the show took to social media to share loving tributes to the beloved actor, who portrayed the role of Cal Jacobs, the father of Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), on the hit HBO series.
Sydney Sweeney
Sydney Sweeney, who plays Cassie Howard in the series, took to Instagram Stories on Friday with a tribute to Dane.
Sweeney reshared a clip from his heartbreaking final video message to his daughters, Billie and Georgia, in the Netflix series “Famous Last Words.” She wrote atop the clip, “Forever will love you,” alongside a red heart emoji.
Barbie Ferreira
Barbie Ferreira, who played Kat Hernandez, similarly took to Instagram Stories on Saturday to re-share Dane’s “Famous Last Words” clip, which was released after his death.
The actress added a simple white heart emoji atop the clip.
Sam Levinson
Show creator Sam Levinson, meanwhile, said he was “heartbroken” over the loss “of our dear friend” in a statement to Page Six.
“Working with him was an honor. Being his friend was a gift,” he continued. “Eric’s family is in our prayers. May his memory be for a blessing.”
A spokesperson for HBO added in a separate statement to Page Six, “We are deeply saddened by the news of Eric Dane’s passing. He was incredibly talented and HBO was fortunate to have worked with him on three seasons of ‘Euphoria.’ Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”
Dane died Thursday at the age of 53 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
“He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife [Rebecca Gayheart], and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world,” his family confirmed in a statement to People.
“Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight. He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always.”
The family noted that the “Grey’s Anatomy” alum “adored his fans” and “is forever grateful” for the love and support he’s received over the years. They’ve asked for privacy at this “impossible time.”
I AM ALS — an ALS advocacy movement — also released a statement following the sad news of Dane, who served as “a fierce advocate, a generous spirit and a true champion in the movement.”
“Eric used his platform not for attention, but for action. From the moment he joined I AM ALS, he showed up with courage and conviction, asking how he could use his superpowers to help the movement grow,” the message read in part.
“[He] was more than a supporter of our mission — he was part of our family. His impact will live on in the research being funded, the policies being advanced and the community he helped grow by his honesty, his bravery and his belief in a better future for anyone struggling with this diagnosis.”
As Page Six previously reported, Dane revealed his ALS diagnosis on April 10, 2025. Just four days later, he was back to work to begin filming Season 3 of “Euphoria,” which will premiere this April.
“I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to [the] set of ‘Euphoria,’” he said in a statement to People. “I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, ALS — also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease — is a nervous system disease that “affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord,” “causes loss of muscle control” and “gets worse over time.” There is no cure.
