Offset has issued his first statement on his health since he was hospitalized earlier this week after getting shot at a casino in Florida, assuring fans that he’s okay while a representative for the rapper confirmed he’s been released from the hospital.
“Thank you to everyone who’s checked in on me and showed me love,” the former Migos rapper shared in a statement posted on social media on Friday. ”I’m good….but I’m planning to be better! I’m focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music…realizing that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses…. Life’s a gamble and I’m still playing to win.”
A spokesperson for Offset confirmed in a statement that he is now out of the hospital, and that “he is up and walking.”
“We’re incredibly grateful to the doctors, nurses, and the entire hospital staff who took such great care of him,” the spokesperson said.
Offset was hospitalized on Monday after he was shot near the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The Seminole Police Department said at the time that he had a “non-life threatening injury.”
Earlier this week, the rapper Lil Tjay, real name Tione Jayden Merritt, was arrested in connection to the shooting charged with disorderly conduct for fighting and was booked into the Broward County Jail late Monday night. The arrest lead to some confusion online as claims had surfaced that Tjay had shot Offset. A lawyer for the rapper issued a statement this week calling the claims baseless rumors and saying he hadn’t been charged with shooting Offset.
“Any reporting to the contrary is false,” Florio said. “We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”
This isn’t the first time gun violence has impacted Migos, as Takeoff was fatally shot back in 2022 after he was shot at a bowling alley in Houston.
