Hulu is looking to add to its slate of drama series with a pilot from Y: The Last Man’s Eliza Clark.
The Disney-owned streamer has ordered a pilot called Durango, which will center on a couple facing long odds. Clark is writing the project and will executive produce with Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer of Media Res (The Morning Show, Peacock’s upcoming The Miniature Wife). Media Res and 20th Television are producing the show.
The logline for Durango reads, “Mikey is a ski bum townie chasing a buzz. Bunny is a homeschooled runaway working as a greasy-spoon waitress. Together they’re riding an avalanche of bad decisions and falling in love while running from cops, criminals, and Mikey’s wife in pursuit of their own American dream.”
Durango has been in development at Hulu for about a year. It’s one of several dramas at Hulu that have earned pilot orders recently, among them Ryan Coogler’s X-Files reboot, the prep school mystery Foster Dade from Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran, and Southern Bastards, based on the graphic novel and executive produced by Nia DaCosta and Bill Dubuque. The streamer is also developing a drama called Vatican City with Robert and Michelle King.
In addition to FX and Hulu’s Y: The Last Man, on which she was the showrunner, Clark’s credits include TNT’s Animal Kingdom, CBS’ Extant and AMC’s The Killing and Rubicon. She is also a playwright whose work has been produced at The Kirk Douglas Theater, The Cherry Lane Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Alley Theatre and South Coast Repertory Theatre.
