Taylor Sheridan scored another ratings milestone with the premiere of his latest series, The Madison.
According to Paramount+ using numbers from Luminate, the family melodrama debuted to 8 million viewers globally during its first ten days, making The Madison the biggest original series launch yet for a Sheridan show on the streamer.
The series, which premiered March 14, also marked the biggest freshman season launch for the prolific creator among women 35 and up.
The grief drama from the Yellowstone hit-maker introduced viewers to the Clyburn family, who are plucked out of their New York City comfort zone and plopped into an uncomfortable yet transformative six-episode tour stay in Montana.
The show stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Beau Garrett, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Amiah Miller and Alaina Pollack.
The show marked a tonal departure for Sheridan compared to his other Paramount+ dramas, which tend to have crime drama and action components. Response to the series was mixed, with The Madison scoring 60 percent positive rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes and 74 percent among viewers.
Sheridan’s days at Paramount are numbered, though he’s not going anywhere soon — the writer-producer signed a deal last year to jump ship to Universal starting in 2029.
The Madison, which has already been renewed for a second season, is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios and Bosque Ranch Productions.
The Madison is executive produced by Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Michelle Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell and Keith Cox. Voros directs all six episodes of the debut season.
