Zendaya Teases ‘Euphoria’ Ending After Season 3

Zendaya has just dropped a big tease about the future of Euphoria.

While appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show on Monday (below) just days ahead of Euphoria returning after a long hiatus, Zendaya indicated that the forthcoming third season will be the last for the hit HBO series.

“I think so, yeah,” Zendaya said matter-of-factly when asked by host Drew Barrymore if season three is the end. When Barrymore asked again, Zendaya repeated, “Yes, I think so.

Euphoria cracked my heart open,” she continued. “Rue [her character] taught me so much about life … that crew has also seen me grow up. I owe so much to that show. Rue taught me so much about empathy and about redemption. She taught me a lot, and I’m very grateful for all of it.”

HBO has not commented about if season three is the final run.

The eight episode third season of Euphoria starts this Sunday (at 9 p.m. on HBO and HBO Max) after a four-year break. The creative result of the delay was creator-writer Sam Levinson deciding to jump the ensemble — which is led by Rue’s Zendaya — out of high school. The new season opens with the cast five years older, now young adults working in different aspiring fields — or in Rue’s case, running from drug lords in Mexico.

“I wanted to create a mosaic of these outsider characters and people who were on the fringes, who were dealing with addiction and insecurities,” Levinson recently told The Hollywood Reporter about the series. “These were characters that I felt were rich and I could really mine, and that’s how I built it.”

The main cast also includes Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, Hunter Schafer and Alexa Demie.

New castmembers this season include Sharon Stone, Danielle Deadwyler, Eli Roth, Natasha Lyonne, Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, Sam Trammell and Asante Blackk. Eric Dane — who recently died after a battle with ALS — Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Nika King and Colman Domingo also return; Angus Cloud, who played fan-favorite drug dealer Fezco, died in July 2023.
