Did George Clooney Help Fund KKK, Unite the Right?

Celebrities routinely open their wallets for noble causes.

  • Hurricane relief
  • AIDS in Africa
  • Disease prevention and research

And, from time to time, they funnel money to decidedly dubious causes. Think BLM and the Minnesota Freedom Fund. The latter helped bail out violent protesters during the George Floyd riots. In at least one case, a freed person committed murder as a result.

Director Adam McKay of “Anchorman” fame funneled millions into the Climate Emergency Fund. That group helps radicals deface priceless works of art to raise “Climate Change” awareness.

So George and Amal Clooney writing a $1 million check for the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), a group that allegedly calls out hate and bigotry, didn’t get much attention back in 2017. Legacy Media outlets covered it, and then moved on to more pressure items.

That’s despite SPLC being under the microscope for mislabeling right-leaning activists and groups as “hate” spreaders. In 2023, SPLC identified a parental rights group as being in the same company as the KKK, just one of many egregious examples.

Yet major groups like Amazon and PayPal relied on SPLC’s so-called “hate map” to weed out bigots.

See the problem? Except that problem just got exponentially worse.

The Alabama-based civil rights group was federally indicted Tuesday on fraud charges and is accused of funneling millions of dollars to pay informants to infiltrate extremist groups like the Ku Klux Klan….(Acting Attorney General Todd) Blanche described the SPLC’s alleged conduct as “extraordinarily egregious,” saying the group paid $3 million to people associated with the United Klans of America and other extremist organizations from 2014 to 2023.

The charges, according to Fox News:

  • Wire fraud
  • False statements to a bank
  • Conspiracy to commit money laundering

How much of that Clooney cash allegedly went into the pockets of the worst of the worst, like the KKK? More importantly, will any news outlet press him for answers?

The answer, of course, is no. Legacy Media outlets protect left-leaning celebrities whenever possible. Said outlets are already spinning on SPLC’s behalf.

The implications here are profound.

The group is accused of helping fund the 2017 Unite the Right rally, an event that led to the death of Heather Heyer. That gathering also gave the press and Democrats (but we repeat ourselves) one of its biggest lies to date.

Media outlets and major political figures like President Barack Obama said President Donald Trump called the rally’s white supremacists “very fine people.” To do so, they took Trump maliciously out of context, ignoring his clarifying comments.

“And I’m not talking about the White Nationalists and Neo-Nazis, who should be condemned totally.”

Reporter after reporter, including former President Joe Biden, weaponized the lie against Trump. Biden based his entire 2020 presidential campaign on the lie.

The fact checks were few and far between, although some news organizations later corrected the record. By sharp contrast, no outlet publicly challenged Biden or Obama on the lie.

Editor’s Note: It’s a brutal time to be an independent journalist, but it’s never been more necessary given the sorry state of the corporate press. If you’re enjoying Hollywood in Toto, I hope you’ll consider leaving a coin (or two) in our Tip Jar.

Now, we’re learning that the SPLC may have had a hand in creating that Unite the Right rally in the first place.

One “field source” for the SPLC “was a member of the online leadership chat group that planned the 2017 ‘Unite the Right’ event in Charlottesville, Virginia, and attended the event at the direction of the S.P.L.C.”…

The SPLC informant, whose salary from the group was paid out between 2015 and 2023, “made racist postings under the supervision of the S.P.L.C. and helped coordinate transportation to the event for several attendees,” prosecutors said.

Shouldn’t Clooney, who posits himself a political figure who routinely weighs in on key issues, have something to say on the damning allegations?

He won’t. Why?

The media won’t press him on it. And he’ll stay quiet, hoping the story fades away without him getting involved.

And, chances are, he’ll be proven right.
