Famed ’80s new wave band’s singer smirks as he’s arrested on horrifying sex charges

Spandau Ballet singer Ross Davidson was seen smirking while being arrested in 2021 for sexually assaulting and raping several women.

In newly released bodycam footage, the frontman, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Thursday, smiled and shook his head as an officer read him a list of charges.

At the time, the officer listed three offenses that occurred in 2019, including rape, voyeurism and recording of a victim without consent.

Davidson, 38, was later found guilty of having sexual intercourse with six women, including when some were asleep, from August 2013 to December 2019.

The musician went to trial two times, with the first being in July 2024, when he was convicted of two counts of sexual assault, rape and voyeurism of several victims.

He returned to court in January 2025 and was found guilty of a March 2015 rape against a female in London and sexually assaulting another victim in December 2019 while in Thailand, per the Times.

During his trial, Davidson denied the allegations against him, telling the court, “I have never raped, sexually assaulted or coerced any woman in my life.”

The incidents occurred during Davidson’s height of fame.

The singer, whose stage name is Ross Wild, was best known for singing with Spandau Ballet, which rose to fame in the ’80s. He is not the original singer of the band, but joined in 2018, replacing founding member Tony Hadley.

In court on Thursday, Judge John Dodd KC said, “For a period of six years between 2013 to 2019, and at a time when your stage and musical career was fast developing, and you were seen by many as a charismatic, you were also behaving to women in a wholly disgraceful manner,” per the Independent.

The judge also said that Davidson had an “adventurous attitude to matters sexually” and tended to treat women “without respect.”

Additionally, the judge shared that the six victims spoke out in court, giving vivid evidence “without exaggeration.”

According to the outlet, five of the women were present at the hearing, and Davidson read a book as they shared their trauma from his actions.

“By refusing to admit his guilt I feel that he has retraumatised me – I find his cowardice utterly deplorable,” one victim shared.
