Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg Robot Dogs Shown in Berlin Museum

Ever wondered what some of the most powerful figures in tech would look like as roving, menacing, mechanical canines? Well wonder no more! American artist Beeple is currently showing his latest work at a German museum, a piece that features robot dogs with the hyper realistic silicone “heads” of Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos roaming the halls and occasionally “pooping” out printed images.

This dystopian nightmare fuel is part of a work titled Regular Animals that is showing now at Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie. Beeple, whose real name is Mike Winkelmann, also made robodogs that featured the heads of artists Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol, North Korean leader Kim Jong and Beeple himself.

According to reports and descriptions from the gallery, the work is a commentary on how our perceptions are shaped by algorithms and technology platforms.

Regular Animals had debuted in December during Art Basel Miami Beach and caused quite the stir on social media. Beeple had reportedly sold five of the six cyborg canine sculptures for $100,000 a piece, according to the art publication Finestre sull’Arte. Only the Bezos piece was held back from the sale.

Beeple has a knack for attracting mainstream attention for his works. The artist famously sold his piece Everydays: The First 5000 Days, that consisted of a collage of 5,000 daily digital images, for $69.3 million at auction in March 2021. The sale of the piece is considered one of the triggers for the short-lived NFT buying frenzy. His other notable works include the digital artworks Crossroad (2020) and Human One (2021).
