Saturday Night Live U.K. will be back for an extended second season, Sky said on Thursday.
The first season hosts have included Aimee Lou Wood, Nicola Coughlan, Tina Fey, Jamie Dornan, Riz Ahmed and Jack Whitehall. Hannah Waddingham will host this coming Saturday’s episode before Ncuti Gatwa wraps up season 1.
Sky said on Thursday that it has ordered 12 episodes of the U.K. incarnation of NBC’s legendary late-night comedy show for season 2, up from eight episodes in the debut season. Season 2 will start airing in September and run until early 2027.
Said executive producer Lorne Michaels: “I’m incredibly proud of our team and the show. It keeps getting better every week. I’m grateful to Dana Strong and Sky for believing in and supporting SNL U.K. I’m excited for the season ahead.”
Added Phil Edgar-Jones, executive director, unscripted originals at Sky: “It’s fair to say people doubted SNL would work in the U.K., but thanks to Lorne Michaels, his longtime Saturday Night Live producing team and UTAS U.K., alongside our brilliant cast and writers, SNL U.K. is Sky’s most talked about show of the year. It’s now firmly part of the cultural conversation, and we’re thrilled the show will be returning.”
SNL U.K. is produced by UTAS U.K. and Broadway Video for Sky and Now. Michaels is executive producing; for Broadway Video, Erin David serves as producer; for UTAS U.K., managing director Helen Kruger Bratt oversees production. SNL U.K. was commissioned by Edgar-Jones for Cecile Frot–Coutaz, chief advertising and content officer of Sky and CEO of Sky Studios.
The final musical guests of season 1 will be Myles Smith and Holly Humberstone.
