“Storage Wars” alum Darrell Sheets’ castmate recalled his “odd” final interaction with him before his tragic death last week.
Dusty Riach told Us Weekly in an interview published Sunday that Sheets settled for a low-ball offer on a product he was selling to a friend.
“It wasn’t the buying and selling that was odd,” he said. “It was really the interaction. Because Darrell is not the type of person to just roll over on an offer.”
“He was a fighter for the last dollar in any deal,” Riach said. “And he was asking a pretty substantial amount of money for a deal that one of my friends was buying from him.”
“And then my friend kind of shot him quite a large deficit off of what he was asking,” he added, explaining that the offer was $50,000 for an estate collection rather than the $125,000 price tag.
“And Darrell just was like, ‘Yeah, that’s great.’”
Riach shared that his friend also thought the interaction was strange because Sheets would’ve at least have pushed for “an extra five grand.”
“But didn’t think anything of it at the time,” he continued.
“For Darrell not to come back at you, it’s just kind of weird,” Riach added.
“My friend said that it felt like he was tying up his affairs,” Riach said, saying that Sheets also followed up with a call, reassuring him the check would clear.
“Even the last watch deal I did with Darrell, we were bickering over like, $50 with each other,” Riach stated. “So I would say this was 110 percent fully out of character for him.”
Sheets tragically died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on April 22. He was 67.
According to the Lake Havasu City Police Department, the TV personality was found dead in his Arizona home.
In the years leading up to his death, Sheets spoke out about depression in a heartbreaking social media post in 2018.
He is survived by his two kids, Brandon and Tiffany.
