The fifth season of The Lincoln Lawyer will be the last one on Netflix.
The streamer said Wednesday that The Lincoln Lawyer — which has consistently drawn strong viewing numbers — will end with its next installment. Production is underway in Los Angeles after Netflix announced a season five renewal a week before season four premiered in February.
The Lincoln Lawyer is the second big Netflix series for which the streamer has announced an endgame this month. Earlier in May, Netflix revealed that The Night Agent would end with its fourth season.
The final season has also added six actors to its cast: Amy Aquino (Bosch), Angela Trimbur (Search Party), Elpidia Carillo (Blue Beetle), Nate Corddry (The Testaments), Tricia Helfer (Lucifer, Battlestar Galactica) and Keir O’Donnell (Ray Donovan). They join previously announced guest stars Chris Diamantopoulos, Corbin Bernsen, Diane Guerrero, Iker Garcia, Patty Guggenheim, Richard Cabral, Steve Howey and Teresa Maria, and returning actors Neve Campbell, Krista Warner, Angelica Maria and Gigi Zumbado.
Based on a series of novels by Michael Connelly, The Lincoln Lawyer stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as attorney Mickey Haller. The final season will be based on Resurrection Walk, the seventh book in the series, and will introduce Mickey to a half-sister he never knew existed, Emi (Cobie Smulders), who comes to him with a plea to help free a wrongfully convicted woman.
Becki Newton, Angus Sampson and Jazz Raycole also star in the series.
“All good things must come to an end, but thankfully sometimes how they come to an end is up to us,” co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez said in a statement. “From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion. And while it is of course bittersweet, it’s also an amazing opportunity to bring this adventure to a close and perhaps chart a new course for some of our characters into the future.
“We are immensely grateful to Netflix and A+E Studios for the opportunity to land this plane the right way. But most of all, we are grateful to the fans all around the world for watching and supporting the show. We promise you, we are right now building a final season that will provide the satisfying finale Mickey Haller deserves.”
A+E Studios produces The Lincoln Lawyer. David E. Kelley created the series for television, and Humphrey developed it and serves as co-showrunner with Rodriguez. All three executive produce along with Connelly, Ross Fineman, Matthew J. Lieberman, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson.
