Tina Fey addresses the future of ‘Mean Girls’ franchise after 2024 film

She’s done trying to make fetch happen.

Tina Fey revealed that the beloved “Mean Girls” franchise is over following the much-criticized 2024 musical film adaptation.

“I promise there are no more iterations coming,” the 55-year-old actress and comedian declared during a HISTORYTalks event in Philadelphia last month, per People.

But the “30 Rock” alum also celebrated the popular franchise, which began with her screenplay based on Rosalind Wiseman’s “Queen Bees and Wannabes” nonfiction book.

“We always, in every iteration, tried to honor the source material, which is like a sociology book about how to help girls through relational aggression and behaviors like that,” she explained.

“It’s like, yes, everyone loves the Plastics. They have the best outfits. We don’t want to emulate them, ultimately,” Fey continued. “We want to pay attention to the fact that their behavior does take them down.”

Fey’s reps did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The franchise kicked off in 2004 with the “Mean Girls” film, which Fey both wrote and starred in as math teacher Sharon Norbury.

It also starred Lindsay Lohan as the protagonist, Cady Heron, as well as Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert as the popular Plastics clique.

The original film was followed by a made-for-TV sequel in 2011 and then a Broadway musical in 2018 starring Sabrina Carpenter as Heron and Reneé Rapp as Regina George.

Fey returned once again and wrote the screenplay for the 2024 reboot, which saw Angourie Rice take on the role of Heron and Rapp return as George.

“I have other things that I’d like to do. But I have so much gratitude that this movie seemed to stick with people,” Fey told the New York Times of the 2024 musical film adaptation two years ago.

“When I look at it, I am reminded of how hard I worked on it in the first place. I feel like the bricks and mortar of it were the absolute best possible job I was capable of at the time,” she added. “It’s not perfect, but it holds water.”

The “Saturday Night Live” alum even gave “Mean Girls” a shout-out when she hosted the first-ever episode of “SNL UK” this past March.

“My name is Tina Fey. Here in the UK, you might know me as the teacher from ‘Mean Girls,’ or you might remember a long time ago when I played Sarah Palin on ‘SNL US,’” she joked.
