Wasserman’s The Team Buys Provisions Golf Agency

Even as it preps for a potential sale, Casey Wasserman’s The Team is bulking up in its core sports representation category and snapping up another boutique agency.

The Westwood-based company is acquiring agency Provisions Golf in its latest move in to the creators category, it said on Wednesday. The firm reps pro golfer Grant Horvat as well as golf influencers the Bryan Bros, both of which have large YouTube followings on their channels, 1.7 million and 853,000 respectively.

Founders Joe Gilliland and Josh Morgan will join The Team as svps. “Over the last few years, we have had a front row seat to the evolution of golf, media, and the creator economy,” stated Morgan. “It has been special to see creators bring new audiences into the game and connect with fans in a more personal and authentic way.”

“Joe and Josh have a deep understanding of where golf, media, and creator-led properties are heading,” said Michael Jones, evp, creators at The Team. “This strengthens our representation business by expanding our position in digital golf and advances our ability to help talent build beyond traditional representation into larger opportunities across content, products, and live experiences.”

Added Jason Ranne, president of The Team’s global talent representation, “Golf creators are redefining how a younger audience consumes the sport and Provisions is the best at helping top talent drive that evolution forward. Together, we will also utilize our industry-leading golf event management, representation, and brand advisory business to maximize crossover opportunities for our shared clients.”

The latest buy was made as The Team (which rebranded from Wasserman in March) is on the block itself, with suitors having put in an initial offer to open the books to buy assets. In April, United Talent Agency submitted a non-binding bid to move along in the auction process, as has WME mogul Patrick Whitesell’s upstart firm WIN along with several other firms.

In addition to its sports and creator focus, The Team is also home to a notable music agency group built from its 2021 acquisition of Paradigm’s music division, as well as production-management firm Brillstein, a marketing services unit and more properties that operate in 70 cities globally.
