Rihanna once again rolled up to the Met Gala fashionably late — and as usual, it was worth the wait.
The superstar hit the iconic red carpet over an hour after the rest of the A-list guests had gone inside on Monday — and after the Vogue livestream had already come to an end — this year wrapped in a glittering gold and silver Maison Margiela gown, with her hair also featuring golden spirals. She walked arm-in-arm with partner A$AP Rocky, who rocked a pink robe over his tux.
Rihanna has become one of the most highly anticipated Met Gala guests throughout the years, consistently breaking the internet with her looks — and last year revealing her third pregnancy on the Met steps.
The 2026 Met Gala theme is “Costume Art,” tied to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s spring Costume Institute exhibition of the same name, which “examines the centrality of the dressed body throughout time and culture, juxtaposing garments and works of art from across the Museum’s vast collection to create pairings that highlight the indivisible connection between clothing and the body,” per the Met.
Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour serve as this year’s co-chairs, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos on hand as honorary chairs. The Gala Host Committee is co-chaired by Anthony Vaccarello and Zoë Kravitz, with members including Adut Akech, Angela Bassett, Sinéad Burke, Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, Gwendoline Christie, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Elizabeth Debicki, Lena Dunham, Paloma Elsesser, Rebecca Hall, LISA, Chloe Malle, Aimee Mullins, Tschabalala Self, Amy Sherald, Sam Smith, Chase Sui Wonders, Teyana Taylor, Lauren Wasser, Anna Weyant, A’ja Wilson and Yseult.
